Warning For Mature Adult Audiences. Contains language and actions some may find offensive. Contains sexually explicit content. Ménage MFM. In Book 5 of the Masters of the Prairie Winds series Merilee Lanham’s life had always been centered entirely on her career until she agreed to date John Stevens. Almost from the outset of their relationship, it was easy to see the ruthless reputation of nation’s youngest U.S. Senator had been well-earned. Keeping Merilee under his thumb with a continuous barrage of verbal abuse finally ends one night she reluctantly confides her need for “something more” in their lackluster sex life. Senator Stevens explodes in fit of anger—more concerned about his future than the woman in his arms and Merilee walks away. Later, when she begins experiencing a sudden surge of security problems, Merilee wonders how much John was willing to risk to silence her.
Ash Moore and Dex Raines have been drawn to Meri since the first night they met. Finding out the auburn haired beauty isn’t who they thought she was makes them wonder if they’d ever known her at all. But, the know too well they have no one to blame but themselves and then coming to terms with the reality of Merilee D. Lanham quickly takes a backseat to protecting her.
Can the two former Navy SEALs keep her safe long enough to find out if the three of them have a future together? And, will the beautiful submissive they knew as Mary Dillon be brave enough to put her heart on the line again?

I agree with D and R. This book made me very uncomfortable. The relationship moved too fast and there was too little real communication between the participants. To leave severe bruises on someone you have known for such a short time is a violation of the safe, sane nature of BDSM. Also too many loose ends in all the relationships. I realize that the purpose of the loose ends is to provide motivation for buying the next book in the series but instead, it strikes me as author carelessness. Too many books, too close together without decent editing. Every a junior editor would have caught most of the plot holes.

Punishing For Pleasure Masters of the Prairie Winds Club Book 5 edition by Avery Gale Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Another great story in this series. Best part of reading these books is all the other characters are involved which just develops all the characters more. You just can't help but love all these people!
I have read all of these books so far and I get swept away in each book. I love the humor and mystery and I admire the men and women. The books are all so well written and I feel like I'm there. If you like discipline and mystery and fiesty ladies this is a book that you will enjoy. I still love the first book the best.
I adored this book as much as I did the others. Meri reminded me of soo much that I deal with in my day to day life.
Who could or would have guessed that Mary Dillon, a sub and Merilee D. Lanham, a foundation executive were one and the same. It even threw the two former SEALs, Ash and Dex for a loop. While I enjoyed the security they provided for Meri, the editing left a bit to be desired. There were misspellings and grammar errors that made me pause, and go back to be sure I read a sentence correctly.
This is an edgy book with borderline masochistic and sadistic scenes but the characters accept that lifestyle and they love each other so it's a good read. I've actually read it a second time and found many interesting pieces that help with the plot and character development so I had to give it a 5 stars. I liked all 5 of the Masters of the Prairie Winds Club series and will look for more of Avery Gales writings.
I have to say that this book has a mixed review. I have loved the entire series/characters/story lines. What I have a problem with is the whole BDSM line is very HEAVY with punishment and in this book it borders on abuse. SPOILER ALERT! The two main Doms (Ash & Dex) have been in previous books and I liked their characters, in this one, one is a slight sadist. In the beginning the story refers back to book one where Mary/Meri is punished because of what happens with Tobi, so that sets the scene and reminds you some of the history for this book & characters. The two Doms play with Mary Dillon a couple times at the club and even though all 3 enjoy it, nothing is noted about him being a sadist, and they are up front that it's not a relationship just playing at the club.

At a chance meeting the two Doms learn who Mary really is and become angry that she never told them her real identity but yet they tell all the submissive women they play with, up front, that they don't want a relationship, and they never asked Mary anything about herself. So what gives them the right to punish her for keeping her real identity secret (although the West brothers, owners of the club, and Jax know who she is) and when the Doms find out not only who she is, but that she is being stalked/harassed, they get angry that she didn't turn to THEM for help. If they are not in a relationship and only playing occasionally at the club why would she turn to them for help? She is punished in her dining room with a couple of the other Doms from the club watching. The two Doms don't want a relationship, they never ask her anything about herself and yet feel they have the right to punish her for keeping the information from them???? Well the punishment borders abusive and she is left seriously bruised and again when they realize what they caused because of their anger, they punish her again for not telling them that their punishment left her severely bruised. The pictures the stalker takes, show them doing the punishment while angry and this brings the fact to the Doms attention. The Doms know that she is the kind of submissive who wants to please them, over herself, to the point she doesn't use her safe word, so again she is punished, when they know that up front and already know they have to proceed slower and teach her to watch her boundary/safe word.
So this book left a bad taste for me. It's almost like the author rushed the story a bit, and made the entire relationship proceed too fast. The overall story would have been so much better without the abusive punishment and more details on their relationship as it progressed. Going from No relationship to severe punishment and treating her like their personal submissive, when she was never claimed and only played in the club a couple of times, all in a couple of hours. Another couple of chapters could have made the story line smoother and the relationship fit together better. The ex boyfriend situation is left hanging, as he was one of the people harassing her, so what happened to him? It does end with a HEA!

The Author's previous BDSM series Club Isola, & Shadowdance Club series are all amazing books but again all Heavy in the punishment aspect with some of the books bordering on abusive punishments. The submissives are being set up to fail so they can be punished. Even though I have enjoyed all 3 series, I would love to see less harsh/abusive punishments and a more loving aspect of the BDSM scene. There are ways to punish without being abusive.
BDSM if done correctly, isn't abuse. It is a way of life that help many become who their souls need them to be.

The continued development of the characters throughout this series, shows the reader the different depths the author goes to provide us with a pleasurable reading experience.
I agree with D and R. This book made me very uncomfortable. The relationship moved too fast and there was too little real communication between the participants.
