I stumbled onto this series via Kindle and I am so glad. What a wonderful author. This book series is well written, suspenseful, and has everything in it anyone could ever want! There are spies, good vs. evil, really bad villains, really good good guys, romance, strategy, world travel, history, warriors ready to give up their lives for a good cause, secret locations and hiding places, plus I am a Catholic and it's nice to have Catholics portrayed in a good light for a change. I don't know of anyone who couldn't find something they like about these books! For me it's like they were written especially for me. I read all three books in less than 2 weeks. I couldn't put them down and HAD to know what happens. I can't wait for the next book. Thank you John Lyman!!!! You have a new major fan.Product details

I have just finished the third book in John's series and I can't say enough wonderful things about this author. First, I love that his writing is clear with no grammatical or spelling errors. He uses actual names in just the right places so you're not left guessing which "he" John is referring to. The other great thing about John's writing is the descriptive history behind the scenes. Just enough that you feel what the characters are feeling but not so much that you get lost in the facts. That's a very fine line in fictional writing that, in my humble opinion, can make or break a book. The Dark Ruin is a welcome return to the characters that we have learned to love and the suspense we have learned to expect. I may just have to read all three books again while I anxiously await John's fourth book.
Mr. Lyman addresses all of the sane and reasonable people's hopes and fears based in integrated truth-seeking, with lucid novelty, for the thinking person who respects the Old and New Scriptures penned in ancient Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek for every generation since time began on Earth.
I just finished this book I am still shaking my head at the twists and turns the story has taken.
It is masterfully written by an author familiar with the workings of Special Operations military personnel. He is also familiar with the inner workings of the Catholic Church.
While that doesn't seem like a good match, the author skillfully weaves the two together to fill the pages with excitement and intrigue.
This is the latest from John Lyman. I eagerly await each new offering. His skills as a master story teller continue to bloom. I often read in front of my computer and look up details from the text. His research is excellent and his tying of the Cathar religion and Montsegur burning of Cathars got my love of history kindled in a new direction. I love a novel that is wrapped around actual events and places. In this book John opens the door wide for many more stories to come. I plan to read them all. My only regret is that I would like to see him charge more for his work. He is worth the money and it would allow him to write more. Tell your friends, they will not be disappointed.

I noticed that several people only gave this book 2 stars - a real mystery for sure. This is one of the best series I have read in a long time - and the third book, "The Dark Ruin" has been the best so far - I can't wait for #4. Your favorite characters are back along with some surprising developments. John will keep you riveted and on the edge of your seats.
Of course this is a work of fiction -- But some of it could come from the front page news. Also the author supplies a potentially valid way that the tribulation and the Antichrist will come about - an interesting twist. Science, action, adventure, archeology, and the Bible all meet up in a book that you will find very hard to put down.
John Lyman has done it again in this third installment of the "God's Lions" series! In this book, the ultimate evil has been unleashed on the world and the antichrist becomes a present danger for, not only the whole world but, particularly, the Bible code team. There is history, science, current and future communication technology and,actually, a hint of current events that will make the reader think about things that are happening in the world today. I am assuming there will be a fourth book that will bring the world back to the realization that religion in any form is vital to the human race. I am looking forward to that fourth book! I would definitely suggest reading this series in chronological order to fully understand the characters and the sequence of events.
I was drawn to this book because of its theme,and I was curious to see how they would portray the end times. I was disappointed that the book ended without that detail. Overall I enjoyed the book..Learned a lot about the history of the Cathars,learned about cities in the middle east and the workings of the Catholic church. I enjoy reading and my main purpose for reading is to increase knowledge. I learned a lot from reading this book
